Job Qualifications

After I graduate, I am tentatively thinking about working for a non-profit organization. So, on this blog I might begin researching different categories of PR jobs in the workforce. I did a search for PR job openings in Utah on Craigslist, and I found a random entry looking for a director of public relations for The Living Planet Aquarium. I thought it would be interesting to start to be familiar with what a PR person would do for non-profit. Here is what I found an employer is looking for in an interview and potential employee.
The person in this position will develop and implement public relations, communication programs, marketing and advertising, consistent with and responsive to the needs of The Living Planet Aquarium, a nonprofit organization. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with little direct supervision, and effectively mange at least one direct report.

Essential Functions of the Job:
•Establish and implement a comprehensive public relations & marketing plan

•Disseminates information about the Aquarium to its’ various stakeholders, including Aquarium patrons, donors, corporate sponsors, tourist coordinators, potential donors, and local residents.
